Catalogue

Update celestial objects with sources, units, translations and integrity tests.

The canonical catalogue lives in src/data/celestialData.ts; localized names, descriptions and scientific labels live in the i18n catalogue. Tests require 39 objects, unique identifiers, strictly positive sizes, valid parent links and complete English, French, Spanish and German entries.

Before changing an object

  • cite a scientific or institutional source in the pull request;
  • distinguish diameter, radius, mass and extent;
  • state uncertain estimates explicitly;
  • update every supported language without weakening qualifiers;
  • update integrity tests if the object count changes.

Satellites must reference an existing parentId. Black holes must retain localized mass labels rather than being presented as diameters.

Do not

  • invent a value to fill a card;
  • present Phoenix A as an established measurement;
  • remove “candidate”, “hypothesis”, “indirect” or uncertainty qualifiers in translation;
  • serve the catalogue directly from an unmanaged browser API.

The vision document ASTROGUIDE_REFONTE_SIMULATION_SCIENTIFIQUE.md describes a future data platform, not the current product.
