FAQ

Short answers to common installation and usage questions.

Do I need a NASA API key?

No. The catalogue is embedded in the repository and no remote API is called.

Do I need an .env file?

No.

Can I change the port?

Yes. Change only the value on the left of the standard mapping; keep the project port on the right.

Where is the data stored?

No application data is written to disk. Exploration state lives in browser memory; only the language preference may be stored locally.

Does the official demo use my NAS?

No. It is the same product code built in demo mode, without a backend.

Does AstroGuide work offline after loading?

Assets are local to the server or build. After the initial load from your instance, no external API is required. Textures come from the same origin.

Why do the 3D distances look inconsistent?

Because they are illustrative. Read Scientific limitations.
